Tender collard greens slow-braised with garlic and a touch of vinegar for a classic Southern side.
16 oz Glory Foods Collard Greens (On Sale: 2/$5)
2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper to taste
Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Step 2: Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cook 30 seconds.
Step 3: Add collard greens and toss to coat.
Step 4: Pour in broth. Bring to a simmer.
Step 5: Cover and cook on low for 45-55 minutes until very tender.
Step 6: Stir in apple cider vinegar.
Step 7: Season with salt and pepper and serve.
Chef's Tip: Low and slow is the key — the longer they cook, the more tender and flavorful they become.
Serve with Fried chicken and cornbread.
