Sandwich steaks seared with peppers and onions and blanketed in melted cheese, served over rolls. All the flavor of the sandwich shop in one pan.
1.5 lbs Sandwich Steaks
2 Bell Peppers, sliced
1 large Sweet Onion, sliced
8 slices American Cheese
4 Potato Rolls, split
2 tbsp Butter
Salt, pepper and olive oil
Step 1: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high and cook the peppers and onion 7 to 8 minutes until softened and browned.
Step 2: Push the vegetables to one side and add the sandwich steaks to the open half of the pan.
Step 3: Cook 2 to 3 minutes, chopping the meat with the edge of a spatula as it browns.
Step 4: Mix the meat and vegetables together and season well.
Step 5: Lay the cheese slices over the top and cover for 1 minute until melted.
Step 6: Butter and toast the rolls, then pile the cheesesteak mixture on top.
Chef's Tip: Slice the steaks while they are still partly frozen for the thinnest possible shreds.
Save by using sandwich steaks cook in minutes and cost far less than a shop sandwich and Serve with a pile of pickles on the side.
