A quick-searing ham steak alongside creamer potatoes crisped in butter. Dinner in about half an hour with two pans and very little fuss.
2 Ham Steaks
1.5 lbs Creamer Potatoes, halved
3 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Minced Garlic
2 tbsp brown sugar
Salt, pepper and fresh parsley
Step 1: Boil the halved creamer potatoes in salted water for 8 minutes, then drain well.
Step 2: Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat and add the potatoes cut-side down.
Step 3: Cook without stirring for 6 to 7 minutes until deeply golden, then toss with the garlic and season.
Step 4: In a second skillet, melt the remaining butter and sear the ham steaks 3 to 4 minutes per side.
Step 5: Sprinkle the brown sugar over the ham in the last minute and let it glaze.
Step 6: Scatter parsley over the potatoes and serve alongside the ham.
Chef's Tip: Parboil the creamer potatoes for eight minutes before they hit the skillet so the insides turn creamy while the outsides crisp.
Save by using ham steaks are already cooked, so all they need is a quick sear and Serve with buttered green beans or collard greens.
