Smoky paprika and brown sugar wings roasted until the tips curl like claws. They come out of the oven dark, sticky and sized for a Halloween spread.
2.5 lbs Bowl & Basket Uncooked Chicken Wings (On Sale: 2/$10)
1 cup Breakstone's Sour Cream, for the dip (On Sale: 3/$5)
2 tbsp smoked paprika and 1 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp hot sauce and 1 tbsp cider vinegar
Step 1: Heat the oven to 425 degrees and set a wire rack over a foil-lined sheet pan.
Step 2: Pat the wings completely dry and toss them with the smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Step 3: Arrange them on the rack without crowding and roast 35 minutes, turning once.
Step 4: Stir the brown sugar, hot sauce and vinegar together in a small bowl.
Step 5: Brush the wings with the glaze and roast another 10 minutes until dark and sticky.
Step 6: Stir a spoonful of the glaze into the sour cream to make a dip and serve alongside.
Chef's Tip: Dry the wings thoroughly and leave them uncovered in the fridge for an hour if you have time. Dry skin is the whole difference between crisp claws and soft ones. Roast them on a rack so the heat gets underneath, and hold the sticky glaze until the last ten minutes so the sugar does not burn.
