On 9/30/19, Reser's Fine Foods, Inc. & Spring Glen Fresh Foods were notified by one of their chicken suppliers, Tip Top Poultry Inc., that they have initiated a Class I recall because Listeria Monocytogenes may be present in cooked chicken used in the manufacturing of refrigerated salad items at their facilities.
Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and still births among pregnant women.
Due to the Class I recall by Tip Top Poultry, Inc., Reser's Fresh Foods is issuing a Class I recall for the following salad items manufactured at their salad facilities with chicken from this supplier (the first three items are packaged in bulk containers not intended for sale to the end consumer):
